Grandad's visit

Last weekend we had a great visit with Grandad.

We headed out apple picking, the kids were pro's and very good on the ladders.
After apples, we headed to the Richmond fair. Saw lots of hoard and cart competitions. The mini horse competitions were a hit with the kids. Jason also got his face painted, played a round of mini golf and went on one of the raids.
Grandad got to walk Jason to his second day of school!

Camping Part 2

As you can see, we are finally getting pictures from our new camera so I will try and post some more photos from over the past few weeks soon.

Labour Day weekend we went for a second camping adventure at Lac Phillipe in Gatineau PArk. I think we will return again - the 35 minute drive is really hard to beat! It is an understatement to say that we missed Nana Lou's help but we did manage to survive. We threw in a trip to Wakefield (a little Town nearby) for artisan baked goods and fresh ground coffee to ensure survival. Nobody got swimmer's itch which is endemic in Gatineau Park so that was good too! Perhaps the most exciting development was Jason taking on doing the dishes - not once but twice. And Keira seemed inspired as well so she washed the picnic table!

Jason has started into his new schedule. He takes the van to Headstart in the afternoon and so far so good.We also met with his Kindergarten teacher this week. We are really thrilled he is going to Churchill. He seemed fairly comfortable with the new school and checked in with me this morning saying "Did you like my new school? It was pretty great eh?!"He also asked the teacher is there was recess (no) and could the kids use the computers (yes). However despite the overwhelming positiveness of the change, it is still a change, and our poor little boy is having a big reaction so any positive vibes for him would go a long way.
