Only in Halifax...
We just returned from Halifax's parde of lights aka the Santa Claus parade. It was 15C and rainy. Really really rainy. So rainy we called Grandad so he could look at the radar and tell us exactly how much more rain to expect. It rained harder and then harder still. At one point as the water started pouring down the streets, Keira said "Are we moving/" becaus eof the optical illusion. At the end of the parade as we walked down one of Halifax's big hills, she said "mama, we are walking in a river!!". What is very Halifax is that everyone stayed through the 90 minutes of downpour!
Keira has a great imagination these days. We have a chair in the backyard that has gotten some bird poop on it. She was standing out there, looking in the trees and yelling "Birdies, come back and clean up your poop. You left your poop here!" Last night,we had friends arriving and she heard the knock at the door. She what it was and I said "just a tree knocking against the house." Silence, then "tree have feet?" No, no feet. Silence for a few more minutes. "Tree coming in?" No, no go to sleep. "Which tree?" Likely afraid that the big tree outside her window was on the way in!
She is getting a little more used to Pre-school. For weeks, she would ask in every story, "That Mama go to work? That Mama leave her little girl at school?" And if she really wanted to drive home the point," That little girl scared to go to school. That Mama should go to work!"
Jason has completely mastered most aspects of the monkey bars arts. Topday he and Heather build a fabulous drums et out of recycled materials!
